Established to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the composer Aram Khachaturian, the Khachaturian International Competition rotates between piano, violin, cello, and conducting editions.
The recent Beijing edition, which was dedicated to the cello, was held in December 2025. It was co-organized by Jingse International Cultural Education and the Aram Khachaturian Cultural Foundation, with support from the China National Opera House and the Armenian Ministry of Culture.
First Prize was shared between Wang Wanglele and Li Shuyu, while Third Prize went to Hao Haoran.
Several further prizes were given: Hao Haoran won the award for the best performance of a Chinese work, while Cao Yijulan won the award for the best performance of a work by Khachaturian.
In the final round, the players each performed with the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, under its Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Sergey Smbatyan.
"Our heartfelt congratulations to the winners and sincere appreciation to all participants for their dedication and exceptional performances throughout the competition," the competition wrote on social media.
