Second Khachaturian International Youth Competition Begins with Five Disciplines and New Global Mechanisms
The Second Khachaturian International Youth Competition has officially launched, presenting a broader international format and five professional disciplines for young musicians worldwide.
The 2026 edition will include piano, violin, viola, cello, and chamber music. The addition of viola and chamber music expands the competition from individual instrumental performance into a more complete professional framework for young artists.
The competition will combine global preliminary rounds, a Beijing final, live broadcasting, public engagement, and the Khachaturian Youth Music Week. These mechanisms are designed to connect professional evaluation with wider public participation and arts education.
Organizers emphasized that the competition is not only a stage for discovering young talent, but also a platform for international cultural exchange, music education, and long-term artistic development.
The final stage will bring outstanding young musicians to Beijing, where they will perform before an international jury and engage with artists, educators, and audiences from different countries and regions.
